Riccardo Mariti

Riccardo Mariti is the Founder & CEO of Riccardo’s Restaurant in London. He opened Riccardo’s in 1995 and beginning in 2016 transitioned it to the ‘world’s first scrum restaurant’. Using scrum and agile methodologies, Riccardo has measurably decreased staff overheads, decreased team member turnover at the same time as boosting team morale, customer satisfaction and profits. Since 2017 Riccardo’s Restaurant has become a ‘showcase’ model for Agile best practices in a ‘bricks and mortar’ business and Tesla, Bosch, 3m and EBRD European Bank of Reconstruction and Development have frequently visited the restaurant with senior management to see how the restaurant is run. In 2020, in response to the Covid-19 Pandemic, Riccardo converted the restaurant into a deli and launched within 5 hours of the initial announcement of lockdown, later creating a line of retail food products which are now offered nationwide by overnight courier service. He is also pursuing several other joint ventures directly related to the Chelsea restaurant. Riccardo also has a background in real estate investment, development and management. The World’s First Scrum Restaurant : Riccardo’s “A Taste of Tuscany” in London by Riccardo Mariti and Jeff Sutherland

Riccardo was asked to present his case study at Harvard Business School’s first Agile SIP (Short Intensive Program) in 2020 where he spent 3 days with 1st and 2nd year MBA students presenting his case study alongside McKinsey & Company, The Boston Consulting Group, Bain & Company and Deloitte.

He was invited back to present his case study in March this year (2021)

Professors Naidoo and Srinivasan are currently writing an official Harvard Business School case study on Riccardo’s Restaurant’s and their journey into Agile which will be published in 2022.
